Meet The Coconut Crabs, The Monstrous Crustacean That Can Climb Any Tree It Wants

Meet The Coconut Crabs, The Monstrous Crustacean That Can Climb Any Tree It Wants When food is usually put in front of your face you don’t ask questions. Usually the answer will turn you off pretty quickly and you will be completely unwilling to try some of the best Filipino food you might see. Some examples include; Menudo, Dinuguan, Bopis, Isaw, Papaitan, Itlogan and of course Balut. But sometimes curiosity kills you and you give in to asking the standard barrage of questions a foreigner might ask about what is being put in front of them. In this case were talking about the Coconut Crab, one of the largest, if not the largest land crab. It has massive claws, where the good meat comes from, that it uses in breaking through coconuts and if you’re not careful, your fingers. If you have ever tried breakin’ into a coconut you’ll understand what a feat this is. There is some good meat in its other legs and its head, however, if you take a closer look at it, you will notice that its tail curls up underneath its body protecting its abdomen, a soft squishy sack that gives when you poke it. Regardless of its odd anatomy it tasted awesome! The best crab meat I have ever had(I hate crab), and if you are curious it does have a coconut taste to it. It was only once we had started digging in to the gift my host father had received that he had started to tell us about the endangered species we were chowing on. I wonder what Panda tastes like?
